Canine Health

For our first contribution to the Canine Health information page, we thought it would be appropriate to provide a list of resources that breeders may find useful when needing to test their dogs for inherited or breed specific diseases. People needing information or assistance regarding having their dogs tested should in the first instance contact their breed club. If there is no breed club or they cannot be of help, the Canine Health Committee is available for assistance: zenchel@westnet.com.au

DOGS Victoria members are invited to view the Canine Health Committee website at http://caninehealth-dogsvic.edicy.co/en

DNA TESTING LABORATORIES:

The following laboratories do not all offer the same services or tests. It is important that you establish which test(s) you want done and confirm that the laboratory is able to do that test. If not, they will generally refer you on to one that can. Some tests cannot be done in Australia and the laboratories below will often send DNA away to overseas laboratories that do the test.

Before beginning the process of testing, it is important that you read and understand the ANKC protocols for DNA testing. These will affect the manner in which you collect the sample from your dog. They can be found below.
