The End of the Companion Dog ClubDOGS Victoria's Companion Dog Club was started in mid-2007 to create a place in DOGS Victoria for owners of dogs who did not wish to compete in showing, trialling or other competitive events, but simply to have their dog as a pet, or companion. While those that did join the club were passionate and very involved, the overall numbers have not met the organisation's expectations and were not enough to make the club financially sustainable. Additionally, a new membership category has been created within DOGS Victoria (also called companion) to fulfil the need to have a place for pet-only owners of dogs. Therefore, in April this year the decision was made by the management committee to end the Companion Dog Club. For information on joining DOGS Victoria as a companion-level member, or getting involved in dog training or competition please visit www.dogsvictoria.org.au.
